A certain magic sweeps over you when you set foot in Tuscany. My latest illustration, Il Borro Tuscany, is an ode to this magic—a celebration of a landscape with a deep equestrian legacy. As part of my Hotel Postcards Collection, this piece draws inspiration from the prestigious Relais & Châteaux estate, known for its unparalleled luxury and a rich connection to the art of horse riding.

If you’re very fond of horses and fine travelling, I highly recommend visiting this picture-perfect estate perched in the heart of Tuscany. Lovingly preserved by the Salvatore Ferragamo family, Il Borro is the most beautiful Tuscan retreat, both inside and out.

From atop the horse, the vineyards are a sight for sore eyes. It's such a unique, intimate experience. You can touch the terrain and take in the aroma of the vines, and it's like you're on an exhilarating adventure.

What captivated me most was the Il Borro’s equestrian heritage. The sound of steady hooves, the gentle tail swishes and snorting of the air. It’s a most magical and immersive way to experience the Tuscan landscape.

A Tuscan fairytale through the eyes of Aishika Xaviera.

The vision behind Il Borro Tuscany.

The inspiration for Il Borro Tuscany came to me the moment I set foot on the estate grounds. It was a warm Tuscan afternoon, and I had just returned from a morning spent riding through the estate’s vineyards. The rolling hills stretched out before me, the vines glowing in the golden sunlight, and I couldn’t help but feel completely captivated by the beauty and tranquillity of the scene.

There was something about the way the estate blended luxury with nature—the opulence of the Relais & Châteaux property, the grandeur of the stables, and the effortless elegance of the horses moving through the landscape.

I could feel a story forming. The vision of a woman in a red gown, her horse galloping through the emerald green vineyards, with the estate standing proud in the background, came to me as naturally as the sun setting over the hills. It was a moment I knew I had to illustrate—one that embodies the very essence of Il Borro: luxury, beauty, adventure, and connection to the land.

Il Borro Tuscany is part of a larger vision—my Hotel Postcards Collection. Each illustration in this series is inspired by a luxury hotel or destination, offering a visual memento of places that resonate with both travellers and art lovers. From the stately equestrian legacy of Il Borro to the dreamy escapes of other five-star properties, my goal is to transport you into the elegance and allure of these locales, even when you're miles away.
